Living in Lusaka Local Coffee Shops

We have been living in Lusaka for a while now, and here are some of the local coffee shops that we enjoy. There are several new, and some quite well established, coffee shops in the vicinity of Shakespeare Court.  It is getting to the point when you are fairly spoilt for choice! Here are some of our favourites:

Blue Moon  this is a fairly new coffee shop which is situated on the corner of the new shopping mall at Woodlands close to the Pick and Pay supermarket. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, the staff are really helpful and eager to please, and there is a choice of indoor or outside seating. The bagels are the best in town! There is also an interesting range of pastries and cakes, which are complemented well by the very good coffee. You could also treat yourself to a 'Blizzard' a mixture between an ice cream sundae and a milkshake. Very yummy!

Sitatonga Cafe
- can be found on the Chindo Road, on the right if you are travelling towards the Pick and Pay supermarket. It is set back from the road, as if it is a private house. Parking is on the verge outside. The menu is small and fairly simple, but the prices are extremely reasonable and the staff are friendly and helpful. There is seating under cover outside or at tables in the garden. However, do not go here if you are in a hurry the service for food is on the relaxed side!

Kilimanjaro Cafe is a newly opened cafe on the Leopards Hill Road, just before the American International School. It is well sign posted. This site is gradually being developed as a lodge, but the cafe is open for business. The main attraction here are the lovely grounds, the child friendly environment, with the provision of toys and games on the lawn, and the miniature horses that roam the grounds. The coffee is good and there is a range of snacks and pastries on the menu.

Buzz Cafe is right next door to Shakespeare Court at the Crossroads Shopping Mall. It offers a range of snacks and drinks and is reasonably priced. The service is sometimes slow so do not go here if you are in a hurry! There is a mixture of seating both inside the shop and on the pavement outside. This cafe stays open into the evening as well.

Mug and Bean

This is a new coffee shop opened in the new shopping centre at Manda Hill.  It is a popular meeting point for people and offers a range of coffees, drinks and snacks.  It is a bit more expensive than some of the more local coffee shops.
